FACULTY SEARCH, HIRING, AND PROMOTION/TENURE INITIATIVES

  • Developed annual training for all faculty search committees on conducting inclusive searches
  • Created new training for the Committee on Academic Rank and Tenure (CART) on recognizing and reducing unconscious bias in the promotion and tenure review process
  • Updated School of Continuing Education adjunct faculty search position language and implemented new outreach efforts, resulting in a broader pool and recent diverse hires 

COLLEGE-WIDE INITIATIVES

  • Provided inclusive classroom and pedagogy workshops for new faculty
  • IDEI awarded 22 mini-grants to faculty and student organizations for college-wide projects that further advance diversity, equity, and inclusion

SCHOOL-LEVEL INITIATIVES

In Process

  • Creating an online faculty search tool kit, to be completed in the Spring 2021 semester
  • Three cluster faculty hire searches are currently in progress, in support of Black Studies

Institutional Data

  • The Division of Student Affairs staff diversity has reached 26%, up from 11% in 2015
  • Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the admissions office reports enrollment of students of color in the Class of 2024 was 18%, slightly down from the previous year
